I love this - excellent likenesses, but I must confess, whenever I look at it (and it's easy to come back to again and again), it looks - to me - that as much as Severus adores Lucius, he's intensely jealous of his soft, straight, flowing, moon-white hair! That's what his expression here says to me... just a taaaad jealous. And that's cool. Your lover should always be just a taaaad jealous! Keeps 'em on their toes.
Oh I totally agree with you! After getting this slash pairing out of my system I totally rooted for non-canon Snape/Lily (because let's face it, they're not canon, she never loved him) as you can see in my deviation here. elenatria.deviantart.com/art/S… And yes, after writing about steamy smutty slash I was finally able to settle down with one peaceful hetero picture in my head, that of Lucius having a pic nic with Narcissa at the edge of a cliff, looking on Malfoy Manor. ^^ But... fanart is not only about canon and het pairings, is it? Fanart is about your heart's desire. I can't stick to a pairing just because it's canon, that's very limiting for me and my imagination. I have limits in *every* aspect in my life, from relationships, family to work and friends, I don't see why I should obey canon rules when I draw for my pleasure alone. I do NOT like watching gay people make out in real life, that I can swear. There's a huge difference between fictional people and real gay people, I came to realize that after working for a gay magazine. Fictional people are all about expressing your inner psychological needs. On the other hand, fanart is not about imposing one's opinion on someone else. Fanart is expression. And expression is freedom.
